According to the WHO (World Health Organization), traditional medicine is the sum total of knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, used to maintain health and to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure mental and physical illnesses.
Chinese medicine uses acupuncture to intervene on specific points of the body to regulate the functions of internal organs, meridians, Qi, blood and body fluids in order to prevent or treat disease.
This approach is holistic. In addition to acupuncture, it employs moxibustion, Tui Na (Chinese massage and osteopathy), dietary advice, pharmacopoeia, Chi Nei Tsang and Qi gong.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an excellent complement to conventional medicine, and vice versa.
